The basic emphasis of both types is distinctly different, however, with Twos being primarily interested in the welfare of others while Eights tend to be interested in their physical wellbeing and in having a distinct impact on their world, often with beneficial fallout for others. Both types bring passion, vitality, interpersonal and social skills, magnanimity, and generosity. Both tend to overwork themselves and both tend to be the strong one in relationships (although Twos will tend to do so as the power behind the throne while Eights will tend to clearly be on the throne). ![]() Both can play the roles of provider, protector, caretaker, and nurturer while avoiding or even denying their own needs. Both can be sentimental and deeply feeling, with a soft side that is often more hidden than apparent. Both are action-oriented and want to have a personal impact on their environment. These two types are more alike than they might appear to be at first. if i determined my enneagram based off this, i would still be mistyping as a 4.What Each Type Brings to the Relationship In conclusion, all types can make dark and revealing art. that's all i can say about 4s without caricaturizing them (cough like enneagram institute caricaturizes cough) as i don't know as much about them. a 4 in contrast is most likely going to focus on creating something to capture their specific essence and can become frustrated if it doesn't feel enough like them. i still write deep, grief-stricken stuff though and give it happy endings. i also used to write a lot of dark fiction in general, but now i honestly don't as much because Stressful. literally all the poetry i write is dark and disturbing as hell because surprise its how i feel inside. many many 9s make art that's more than just "happily ever after," and even make dark and revealing art, but 9s are most likely to give sad stories happy endings vs sad ones because it gives a sense of comfort and hope. ![]() i strongly dislike the enneagram institute descriptions personally. I find it inaccurate and too generalized. So I am wondering how much stock I should put into these descriptions/how much I should consider my type being a four instead of a nine because my art more aligns with the four description? Fours often deal in the tragic, finding redemption in self-transcendence Nines deal in the commonplace, finding comfort in ordinary lives and simple situations.” (There are no unhappy endings in the Nine's world of make-believe.) By contrast, the art of Fours is generally more personal and realistic, the expression of the Four's (and of everyone's) deep longing for love, wholeness, and meaning. Nines are often gifted storytellers in which ".and they all lived happily ever after" is assured. The art of Nines often expresses idealized, mythological, and archetypal worlds–usually the real world glossed into something fantastic and wondrous. In the article contrasting fours and nines, it says “the artistry of Fours is much more personal and self-revealing than that of Nines.
